Summary

For more than thirty years, the insights of Osho have delighted and challenged spiritual seekers。 Everyday Osho represents the essence of these insights an understanding that synthesizes a wide range of spiritual and philosophical traditions ~with the contributions of modern science and psychology。 This inspirational volume offers readers daily choices br living fully in the here and now, challenging them to embrace a new way of being that integrates body, mind, and spirit。

The Osho teachings defy categorization, covering everything from the individual quest for meaning to the most urgent social and political issues facing society today。 His hooks are not written but are transcribed from audio and video recordings of extemporaneous talks given in response to questions from visitors over a period of thirty-five years。 Osho has been described by the Sunday Times in London as one of the "1,000 Makers of the 20th Century" and by the Sunday Mid-Day in India as one of the ten people--along with Gandhi, Nehru, and Buddha who have changed India's India。

About his own work Osho has said that he is helping to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being。 He has often characterized this new human being as "Zorba the Buddha" capable of enjoying both the earthy pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautama the Buddha。 Running like a thread through all aspects of the work is a vision that encompasses both the timeless wisdom of the Last and the highest potential of Western science and technology。

Osho is also known for his revolutionary contribution to the science of inner transformation, with an approach to meditation that acknowledges the accelerated pace of contemporary life。 His unique "active meditations" are designed to first release the accumulated stresses of body and mind, making it is easier to experience the thought-free and relaxed state of~ meditation。

Everyday Osho is a book of 365 meditations that can be read by topic, at random, or sequentially。 Whichever way you choose to approach this book, you will no doubt find messages that resonate with you。I have read several books of this type and while there isn't a lot that's new here, there are many lessons that we need to hear again and again until they become a part of us。 Everyday Osho will help get you to that point。My thanks to NetGalley and St。 Martin's Essentials for allowing me to read an Everyday Osho is a book of 365 meditations that can be read by topic, at random, or sequentially。 Whichever way you choose to approach this book, you will no doubt find messages that resonate with you。I have read several books of this type and while there isn't a lot that's new here, there are many lessons that we need to hear again and again until they become a part of us。 Everyday Osho will help get you to that point。My thanks to NetGalley and St。 Martin's Essentials for allowing me to read an ARC of this edition which is scheduled for publication 8/24/21。 All opinions expressed in this review are my own。 。。。more

I love Osho philosophy and having his great thoughts in a short once a day book is brilliant。 I have been reading each day this past week and it has set a great tone for my day。 Osho thoughts are thought provoking and opens your mind to another way of viewing the world and yourself。 A must read in my opinion。

It's been a while since I visited my Osho book collection, which includes the original edition of this book。 Everyday Osho is now being revived by St Martin's Press, and I'm so grateful to the NetGalley and St Martin's for an advanced copy of this book to review。 Even though I've read it before, it was almost ten years ago, and at a time that I truly needed it。 The time has come again that I believe I need these meditations in my life, and so I feel gratitude for being able to read them again。 W It's been a while since I visited my Osho book collection, which includes the original edition of this book。 Everyday Osho is now being revived by St Martin's Press, and I'm so grateful to the NetGalley and St Martin's for an advanced copy of this book to review。 Even though I've read it before, it was almost ten years ago, and at a time that I truly needed it。 The time has come again that I believe I need these meditations in my life, and so I feel gratitude for being able to read them again。 Within the pages of Everyday Osho I believe are meditations that can resonate with just about anybody。 There's 365 of them, which you might decide to read over the course of one year, cherishing one a day, or, like me, you may decide to scan through the contents and choose whatever speaks to you at that particular moment。 In the opening of the book, Osho states, "Meditation is very simple: it is nothing but consciousness。 It is not chanting, it is not using a mantra or a rosary。 These are hypnotic methods。 They can give you a certain kind of rest—nothing is wrong with that rest。 If one is just trying to relax, it is perfectly good。 Any hypnotic method can be helpful, but if one wants to know the truth, then it is not enough。 Meditation simply means transforming your unconsciousness into consciousness。"The meditations that resonated most with me were the ones about Gratitude, Self-Improvement, Authenticity, Low Energy, Darkness, Sleep, and Anxiety。I felt like the self improvement meditation was written for me, it was that relatable。 "Self-improvement is the way to hell。 All efforts to make something out of yourself— something of an ideal—are going to create more and more madness。 Ideals are the base of all madness, and all of humanity is neurotic because of too many ideals。"I find as a society we are constantly trying to improve ourselves, become better, do more, achieve bigger things, fit ourselves into the boxes that others build for us。 This simple meditation was a reminder that we do not have to try to become somebody else, we can enjoy being whatever we are。 The Low Energy and Darkness meditations met me where I'm at right now in my journey。 I feel in terms of my mental health, in the darkness, and with that, comes low energy。 Osho's meditation says there's nothing wrong with low energy, just as there is nothing right about having high energy。 When talking about darkness, Osho states quite beautifully, "Never be bothered by negatives 。 You burn a candle, and the darkness goes on its own。 Don’t try to fight with the darkness。 There is no way, because the darkness does not exist— how can you fight with it? Just light a candle and the darkness is gone。 So forget about the darkness, forget about the fear。 Forget about all those negative things that ordinarily haunt the human mind。 Just burn a small candle of enthusiasm。"Finally, at the end of the book is a meditation called 'beginning', although it's the end of the book, Osho says, "wherever you are, it is always at the beginning。 That's why life is so beautiful, so young, so fresh。"Each meditation is very short and concise, and can be brought anywhere with you, each one meeting you wherever you're at on your personal journey。 I imagine this as the kind of book that can sit on a shelf for one thousand years, and still hold the same meaning and value that it does today。Osho's teachings are so wise, and I think everyone can benefit from them。 In this very special book, you will have your eyes opened to the power of self-love and the truths to living life more fully with much more insight and clarity。Avocado Diaries 。。。more

I found the cover of this collection of meditations to be quite appealing in its calmness。 I felt invited in to see what the entries would state。 There are 365 messages in all, one for each day of the year; the purpose of these meditations is to direct readers to be mindful in the here and now。 If you are a person who likes to take a little time each day to ponder life’s mysteries, give this title a look。 It definitely offers food for thought。Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this t I found the cover of this collection of meditations to be quite appealing in its calmness。 I felt invited in to see what the entries would state。 There are 365 messages in all, one for each day of the year; the purpose of these meditations is to direct readers to be mindful in the here and now。 If you are a person who likes to take a little time each day to ponder life’s mysteries, give this title a look。 It definitely offers food for thought。Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

Overall I enjoyed reading this book。 There were several meditations that really stood out to me。 My favorite one was “All the love in the world can be given to you, but if you decide to be miserable, you will remain miserable。 And one can be happy, tremendously happy, for no reason at all - because happiness and misery are your decisions。”There were several passages that I disagreed with though for example there was a chapter on history “History is so ugly。 Man has not reached the level at which Overall I enjoyed reading this book。 There were several meditations that really stood out to me。 My favorite one was “All the love in the world can be given to you, but if you decide to be miserable, you will remain miserable。 And one can be happy, tremendously happy, for no reason at all - because happiness and misery are your decisions。”There were several passages that I disagreed with though for example there was a chapter on history “History is so ugly。 Man has not reached the level at which history should start。 It has all been nightmares。” While I agree with Osho that starting each morning completely new without allowing the past to cloud our day I disagreed that history and the past should be completely forgotten。I plan to purchase a copy of this book so that I can reread the book slower and really focus in on the passages。 Thank you Netgalley and St。 Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

One of the very first books I loved。 For years I read it over and over。 Which I then gifted to a friend who was going far far away as a memory and as something to look into when times get hard。 Every time I read Osho's mind in this book, I would feel peaceful。 One of the very first books I loved。 For years I read it over and over。 Which I then gifted to a friend who was going far far away as a memory and as something to look into when times get hard。 Every time I read Osho's mind in this book, I would feel peaceful。 。。。more

Everyday is a book that allows you to learn a new philosophy for life。 it takes you on a journey within your inner side。 It helps you to understand yourself more, to love yourself more and to be like a river, full of flux without stopping。 It helps you to enlighten your life and to accept every moment, even if you face a fear, sadness, or misery。 I really enjoyed reading it。

The overall theme of this book is to not get upset about what might happen。 We don't know what might occur before it does。 I've wasted a lot of time fretting about this or that, only to have things work out a lot better than I had imagined they would。 So whenever I get that old anxiety, I start reading, and it really helps calm me down。 The overall theme of this book is to not get upset about what might happen。 We don't know what might occur before it does。 I've wasted a lot of time fretting about this or that, only to have things work out a lot better than I had imagined they would。 So whenever I get that old anxiety, I start reading, and it really helps calm me down。 。。。more

About 10 years ago, I hosted two representatives from the Billy Graham Library and Museum for a day-long visit。 As a token of their thanks, they sent me Billy Graham's book, Hope for Each Day。 I put the book on my bedside table。 I'd pick it up each morning and read one of the inspirations, praying that it would help me find the right path, give me hope, help me face the day, or simply give me strength to cope with the complexities of life。 And, it did help to read the inspirations - the quotes w About 10 years ago, I hosted two representatives from the Billy Graham Library and Museum for a day-long visit。 As a token of their thanks, they sent me Billy Graham's book, Hope for Each Day。 I put the book on my bedside table。 I'd pick it up each morning and read one of the inspirations, praying that it would help me find the right path, give me hope, help me face the day, or simply give me strength to cope with the complexities of life。 And, it did help to read the inspirations - the quotes would stimulate an internal conversation - sometimes these conversations would delve deep and sometimes they simply turned into a mantra - a meditation - either way they gave me a sense of strength and serenity from which I emerged more self-confident and courageous。 After a while, because I was feeling stronger, I stopped reading the book each day but the internal conversations - the meditations - continued。 However, the book remained on my bedside table。 I couldn't shelf it - it symbolized so much - it was not just my security blanket; it represented the path I had traveled for nearly eight years - I'd glance at it on the table -it made me feel good to know that it was close by just in case I felt I needed that word of advice or simple inspiration。 Eventually, after having the opportunity to visit the BGLM two years ago and leaving the facility a bit disillusioned and feeling less than born again, I realized that it wasn't the book, or the person, or the reflections that had helped me down a challenging path。 Oh sure, they lit a fuse and served to facilitate, but ultimately, I did it on my own - I traversed the path and forged ahead through my own internal conversations - my meditations - I found strength within myself - alone - to meet my obligations and pursue and achieve my goals。 When I received Osho's 365 Daily Meditations for the Here and Now as a gift, I flashed back to the journey I had taken after receiving Billy Graham's Hope for Each Day。 I immediately put Osho's book on my bedside table extremely reluctant to pick it up。 I wasn't quite sure who Osho was so I flipped to the back of the book to read about the author and the Osho Commune。 Subsequently, I Googled Osho only to find out that he was the highly controversial anti-American Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh during the 1970s and 1980s who eventually was arrested on multiple counts of fraud and deported back to his homeland of India, one of the few countries who would take him。 This information disappointed me and made me even more skeptical and even more reluctant to read one word。 I didn't want the book - I didn't want to be disappointed or disillusioned - I tossed it aside - into a suitcase - safe out of view - however, several days later, I eventually picked it up and flipped through the pages。 I discovered that Osho's overall philosophy seems to be about self-realization - self-meditation - working things out alone - a practice I had discovered not too long ago - a philosophy I had followed even though I didn't know I was following it at the time - and so, I began to read the reflections。 Some are better than others。 However, the one that spoke to me loudest and made me rethink the value of this book is reflection 287; it confirms for me what I've known all along about friendship and intimacy - "。。。。。。One need not have a crowd around oneself。 A few deep, intimate relationships are enough; they are really fulfilling。 In fact, because people don't have intimate relationships, they have many relationships to substitute。 But there is no substitution for real intimacy。 You can have one thousand friends - that will not make for one real one。 But that is what people are doing: they think that quantity can become a substitute for quality。 It never does。 It never can。 。。。more
